Oh, hi. I’m Sue Kindred, a business strategist for nonprofits and founder of SK Consulting. I help nonprofits become better at what they’re called to do by showing them new ways to navigate the ups and downs of serving their community and the twists and turns of fundraising. With 30 years of real-world nonprofit experience, I bring a depth and breadth of experience and insights that you simply can’t get without having walked the walk. I look forward to helping guide you on your path to making a powerful impact in your work and mission.
In 2016 I produced Alchemy, a national conference for nonprofit storytelling and am currently the resident storytelling expert at the online fundraising site Asking Matters. I speak at conferences and hold workshops on the power of storytelling, leadership, and volunteer engagement and currently lead the Board Chairs Excellence series at The Community Foundation in Richmond, Virginia.
I’m originally from Texas, but now reside in Richmond, Virginia. I enjoy spending time with my dog, Archie, reading, traveling, learning about history, and always seeking the next adventure.
MY PROMISE TO YOU
Together, we’ll identify your needs and strategize a workable solution. It may not be easy; but I promise we’ll find the way that will work. When we agree to work together, I believe we enter a sacred trust; one that is built on telling people the truth, not on telling people what they want to hear. I will always tell you the truth, even if it’s hard for me to tell or hard for you to hear. All of my conversations will remain private and confidential. That includes conversations with you, your staff or team, your Board, and your clients. I will use the insights gained from these conversations to inform my strategic thinking and my recommendations, but everything we do will be predicated on honoring that sacred trust.
Sometimes leading, sometimes side-by-side, but always guiding, teaching, and encouraging. Together. Because together is better.
When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way. Walt Disney
“As a funder, I've partnered with Sue to support several organizations. She possesses the rare ability to assess a problem, break it down into achievable tasks, communicate it, and then implement the solution – all in one! Sue draws on a wealth of experiences and infuses encouragement along the way so clients reach their intended targets. I highly recommend her for many of the complex issues that arise with nonprofit organizations.” Rick Schofield, Flashpoint Fund
“I loved working with Sue. She was often the voice of reason in a sometimes chaotic work environment. I became very close with her throughout our working together and consider her a good friend. She was super organized and knew the company inside and out. If you need to get to the bottom of something, Sue is your best resource.” Rosalyn Duke, Freelance Designer
